An awesome PS mini by the name of Velocity has been available on the PS Vita as a compatible mini and has left many, myself included wanting more. The developer has announced that they are remaking this mini as a full-fledged PS Vita game, to be called Velocity Ultra. Maybe Velocity just teleported right past you and you aren’t aware of the game, or maybe minis aren’t your thing. If either are the case, then check out what Futurlab is doing with their vertical space shooter, to be released as a native Vita title:
- Online high scores
- Overhauled visual style at PS Vita native resolution
From Futurlab: “We’re reworking all the art in the game, so the cut scene stills have been recreated at a much higher standard than before. We’re also unifying the art style throughout the game by ditching pixel art in favor of the edgy cartoon style.”
Comparing it to a director’s cut, Futurlab is doing some great things with what was already a fun mini that I’ve enjoyed on my Vita. For those who have played, and thought about using the touch screen to teleport: they’re considering it due to the fast-paced nature of the game to determine if it’s worth including. I’d like to see it as an option, as there are times I could see myself appreciating the precision. No news yet on a release date, but an estimate is given for May.
