Sniper: Ghost Warrior was an easy to forget game, poorly implemented and very frustrating at times. On the other hand, it was a game about being a sniper and games that focus solely on that are few and far between. Indeed, I can only think of the Sniper Elite games that so, so it is a niche genre always looking to be filled. Obviously Ghost Warrior sold enough, or at least had enough support, to warrant a second game and that’s what we’ll be getting, and thus enters the first official gameplay trailer for Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2.
My knowledge of snipers is that they spend a lot of time laid down, waiting for the assigned target, often for hours. That wouldn’t make for the most interesting of games for the general consumer, so Ghost Warrior 2 looks to have you roaming around interesting countryside, knifing people in their armpits, making some incredibly long shots, and watching your partner brutalize an enemy soldier.
Why are you stabbing people in their armpits? I thought the general idea to keep the person you stab silent. If I got stabbed in the armpit my reaction would most certainly be to shout “Ow, that bloody hurts”. The old fashioned way of holding the persons mouth while you slice through their throat, preferably severing the vocal chords, still sounds more efficient to me.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is set for an early 2013 release on the PC, PS3 and 360.
