Flixster Needs A Remake On The PlayStation Store

Flixster is a movie rating service with a presence on the PlayStation Store. I say, “presence”, because that is what you will find in the video side of the store for the PS3 and Vita – a Flixster-labeled category with a scant selection of recent movie trailers.
Look online, however, and you will find the following description from the Flixster website, in the about section: “Flixster is the leading online destination for movie enthusiasts with over 30M unique visitors per month and 2 billion movie ratings.”
How is it, then, that the Flixster category in the PlayStation Store offers nothing more than a couple new movie trailers a week, some weeks with nothing new at all? The main page of www.flixster.com shows ten movies in theaters, five movies opening this week, and another five coming soon – each rated with a trailer to view. The PlayStation Store, as of this writing, has thirteen trailers, some being newer versions of the same movie.
Meanwhile, the smartphone app version of Flixster is described as:
Movies by Flixster. The #1 app for movie reviews, trailers, and showtimes.
★ Editors’ Choice app – Google Play
★ One of the 40 Best Free Android apps for 2011, 4.5/5 stars – PCMag.com
★ “A terrific app for learning about what movies are playing.” – PCWorld.com
Movies by Flixster. The #1 app for movie reviews, trailers, and showtimes.✓ Browse the top box office movies and movies opening soon✓ Look up showtimes at your favorite theater and buy tickets (from participating theaters)✓ Get critic reviews from Rotten Tomatoes✓ Watch high quality trailers✓ Stream and download full-length movies✓ Create your own “Want to See” list, rate & review movies✓ View and manage your Netflix queue
I have an internet connection, and home (PS3) and mobile (Vita) devices that should be as powerful as a smartphone. The PS3 could especially take advantage of this service by integrating it with their Video Unlimited service, and bringing in thousands of movie trailers and billions of movie ratings. With all that the Flixster website does and apps do for Google Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry, and Apple iOS devices, I would like to see this service become more than just a presence on my PlayStation systems.
