New Game Releases – 09/03/2012

This week has some killer games that gamers have been chomping at the bit to get there grimey hands on for quite a while now.

The big one this week is Mass Effect 3 out on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.  This is the final chapter in the Mass Effect series and has been met with some rather slick reviews claiming this is the best game in the series and one of the best games ever made. Bioware have really gone to town on the graphics this time and its evendently noticeable that the gameplay has been vastly improved over Mass Effect 2. It’s not all great though because a few of our Google Plus and Twitter fans have not been impressed with the Playstation 3 version due to it running at 20fps which can hinder gameplay. There have also been some issues importing your Shepard character on Xbox 360 and PC. Lets hope Bioware fix these issues.

Fighting fans will love Street Fighter X Tekken which has been met with high praise by most review sites. Lots to unlock and 4 player tage team online play is available. Its out on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and a PS Vita version is out soon.

Are you a fan of Anime? Well Asura’s Wrath may be the Anime fix you have been waiting for. It has been described as an interactive Anime game and has you taking down gods with some extreme over the top battles. Check out the demo on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 to see what all the fuss is about.

Thanks to the EU regulations we had to wait that extra bit longer for Twisted Metal on Playstation 3. We recently did a review on Twisted Metal, check it out.
Unit 13 is the big hitter on PS Vita this week and people are raving about how great it is. It’s made by the dudes who developed the SOCOM games.

Snake is back and is glorious 3D in Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D. Does this look familier? Well it should because it is Metal Gear Solid 4, its had a reworking of the graphics and it looks amazing. If you own a circle pad pro it works with this aswell.

Next week:

  • FIFA Street (PS3, 360)
  • Inazuma Eleven 2 (DS)
  • Saint Seiya Sanctuary Battle (PS3)
  • Yakuza: Dead Souls (PS3)
  • Ben 10 Galactic Racing (3DS)
  • BIT.TRIP Complete (Wii)
  • BIT.TRIP Saga (3DS)
  • Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2012 (PS3, 360, Wii)
  • Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle (PS3, Wii, DS)
  • Hello Kitty: Big City Dreams (DS)
  • Paranoimia

Nothing of interest to me there.

Unit 13 is half decent…. So your not a fan of Mass Effect 3? Seems the PS3 Mass Effect 3 demo framerate issues have crossed over into the full game. Its very noticeable and frustrating as hell sometimes.

  • Paranoimia

I tried the Unit 13 demo, but it didn’t do much for me.

I have ME2 and completed the game, but Operation Overlord mission aside, I found the who thing pretty tedious. Mining was fun, the rest not so much. It’s strange, because in theory the game is everything I like – sci-fi, space, gun battles etc. – but it just didn’t ‘click’ with me. The story didn’t grab me, and I found I couldn’t give a toss about any of the characters.

I tried the ME3 demo on both PS3 and 360, and it rekindled a bit of interest, but certainly not enough to buy it at full price. I might pick it up when it drops below £20 or so. And when they’ve had the chance to patch some of the glitches – assuming they bother, of course.

I was also stunned that they haven’t revised that awful part of the control system, which still insists that you *have* to crouch behind cover before you can jump over it; that’s just f*cking unbelievable, in my personal opinion.

I quite enjoyed it, the facial animations are shit though. Parts feel rushed aswell. Yea the whole jumping over objects is pathetic…
